The VS Audio Straight Flush is built around a chassis that will not go unnoticed! Indeed, this one adopts a graphic that could not be more visual, symbolizing what the pedal offers you: a drive that goes from the wise OD, with soft sounds, to the Plexi which slices, typically amp-like.

In terms of controls, nothing could be simpler, it has a Vol, Gain and Tone and a mini switch that allows you to activate an additional gain stage (equivalent to channel 2 of the Royal). Inside it's high-end PCB, with perfect assembly and soldering. All powered by 9V 10mA.

To best utilize the VS Audio Straight Flush, a nice clean channel with headroom will be most recommended. Stratocaster in hand, we start with the Gain switch in position 1. This mode offers you a light, hushed, never aggressive overdrive, with a very nice transparency and excellent dynamics. It acts as a layer on your sound and lets your playing express itself. It breathes. We have a big dynamic, a straight attack that works just as well with the single coil as with the humbucker. Very significant thing, the Tone can be used over the entire race. By switching to mode 2, the pedal turns into a real supercharged Plexi. It's more compressed, with more fluidity and gain. Perfect for playing pop and blues. But it is by pushing the gain that the Straight Flush is revealed. It's twisting, it's rich, we're in the middle of Back In Black with the gain at 1:00 p.m. and we're swimming in Appetite For Destruction with the gain at full blast. You get a complex drive, full of harmonics, with a fairly forward mid to cut through the mix, and a dense low end for a broad spectrum drive. By pissing the controls, the Straight Flush perfectly simulates an additional amp channel. It does not sound pedal, and that's what is apprciable!

If you are looking for a versatile overdrive with a unique sound signature, the Straight Flush is a choice to consider against the Duelist and other pedals of the same type.
